Layout and content question

Hi :)

I'm doing my first steps with SmugMug. I chose "Sierra" as layout.
When I click on customize and then on "Entire Site" I see a site content block and a footer. But who placed this? Is this the default or where can I get rid of them? Or how can I customize these two blocks?

If I add a separator in the site content and give it an height of 100px then I end up with an ugly half-transparent whatever. Why is not 100% transparent? Or is there another way to move the site content a little bit downward?

And where is this "center" box coming from in the "Homepage" section? How can I place a photo block wherever I want on my homepage? At the moment I only can place it in that "center" box.

Regards
Garfield

The site content block you see on Entire Site is where all of the content on your site is placed. That content may be different on your homepage than on your other pages. You customize that block by altering your theme, by adding CSS, by specifying galleries / pages / folders as viewable or not.

The footer can be changed in the Settings panel. Click Customize... Content and design... Footer.

Where do you want to place the content? If your your Settings specify Independent homepage as Off your homepage has the same header as your full site. If you don't want that go to Settings and set Independent Hompage to On.
