Image Download for client question

For my clients I let them download the "original" files from smugmug while they are waiting for their USBs to arrive in the mail. I've never had this come up but I got this today. Not quite sure how to respond as I always tell then that they are exactly the same.

"I noticed that all the digital images on USB are larger in memory size than the corresponding images downloaded from your site at http://dahliasanddaisiesdesigns.smugmug.com/ using the Save Photo icon (which provide the full resolution images, correct?).
To give you an example, file LG3A0167.jpg has 8.67 MB downloaded and 10.3 MB on the USB drive. Usually larger memory size means better quality picture... However looking at details they both seem to have same dimensions and resolution. And visually I can't tell any difference.
Is there any significant difference in picture quality between these versions? "

Can you give us a link to this photo in your gallery so we can have a look?

Back from my vacation and hopping in on this thread. At one point we were stripping thumbnails from images downloaded via the bulk zip file. Can you confirm with me:
    1) You're downloading them individually by clicking the save photo / download button?
    2) Can you send me a few links to some of the photos so I can compare?

    Thanks!

I ran across this and got curious. I had uploaded a gallery this evening so grabbed the first shot in it, and downloaded. Then I exported from Lightroom in the same jpg quality to disk. The two are identical in size.

Just one data point. But I feel better, I was worried.
