Mabry Mill

On Saturday, I took a ride up to Mabry Mill on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia for some evening shooting. The mill was built by Edwin Mabry around 1910. It has been restored and is operational.

Shortly after taking the photo above, I had an unexpected encounter with a deer...fortunately no injuries, except for the deer.

    Nice reflections. A VERY popular location for photogs! Sorry about the deer. Happens all the time where I live.

    I took another ride up to Mabry Mill yesterday. No deer - or Durangos - were harmed in the making of this image!

    Really like that second one, John. I've probably got 200+ acceptable images of that old mill....shot in all seasons, weather conditions, etc. It's amazing how many faces that old place can show you if you look for them. It's equally amazing that I don't see any other folks in this shot.

    Very well executed shot, buddy. It gives a good impression of the " flavor " of the place.

    Last shot is nice! I have seen this shot before....didn't it know it was a famous spot.....thought someone found a lucky spot!
