In search of a possible gain in detail, I reversed the lens and, with settings as previously, at f16, took some more shots of the white species of Moth Fly.

My conclusion is that there is certainly no loss of detail and possibly a small gain.

This looks better to me but I suspect it may be because the aperture on reversed lenses is often "wider" than when fitted normally.

    Thanks, Brian.

Not being a frequent user of reversed lenses, I am not mindful of such matters.

The lens is actually supposed to be optimised for 1:1 so I am pushing it.

I should try it on a shorter extension. The problem is subject matter at this season.
