First couple of shots with the new ring flash, which at the moment I haven't modified to diffuse the light as yet.
First was taken in error really, at f/2.8 (derrrr...) so was quite bright of course, so I had to work a fair bit to get that down to something passable - but the aim was to capture the little mite that was running all across the body of this 1 inch long slug. As it happened, when I triggered the shutter the mite was in as good a spot as it could have been for composition. It was a very quick runner though, and rather on the white side!
Second, again not diffused, but I had dialled in -2EV on the flash unit and taken at f/11. It's a shell of a spider in the shed that has actually been there for months now, I've just never bothered to photograph it.

Those mites are common surface parasites of slugs.
Is your ring not TTL or just too close to cuts out?
Harold
It was new out of the box Harold.
ETTL, but so close to the subject, less than 2 inches away. Needs the diffusion but that has been addressed in the millipede images.
