Trying to duplicate "vanity url" function

I tried to duplicate the functionality of a vanity url from the old smugmug: i.e. "www.mysmugmugsite.com/yourgallery" pointing to long url "www.mysmugmugsite.com/web/families/galleries/picgallery/x-oppaojsdl/"

I tried this by making a landing page and adding a gallery content block to it. However, unless the gallery is public, it won't show. I would like to keep it unlisted, so either you need the long URL or the shortened URL to get to the page, and maintain some appearance of specific privacy (even though I don't seem to be able to find public galleries on my site by search).

I can make the landing page unlisted as well, but theoretically that still leaves the actual gallery open to discovery if I am understanding this correctly.

Any suggestions on how to get this to work?

One way around this would be to create a page with a html block on it. In the html block use the images
you want with the links you want to represent the unlisted galleries. It would look to visitors like any
    other galleries box.

That worked reasonably well, and allows me to fairly easily add galleries to that link in the future. I think smugmug could make it easier, but I guess it's a little easier than the java script from before.

    Thanks!
