2 out of 3 walnuts...

Delighted to find tonight, not just the original walnut orb spider from earlier in the week (that is on the west facing fence panel) but a second well grown one on the south facing fence panel, both of which I was able to snap tonight. As well as these two, there was also a walnut orb spiderling a little below the latest find, though this one had run away by the time I got the camera gear into the garden.
Interesting to note,m that both adults quickly ran away to their safety place within a minute of my lghting them with the LED lights on the ring flash and subsequent taking of their photos. I think perhaps the bright light may have made them think it was daytime, and seeing as they are known (for good reason) as the evening spiders, could be the reason for them scooting out of sight so quickly. Notice the droplets of moisture forming on the western web strands of the original lady, not yet forming on the sheltered southern web...
