I don't know about the texture, but the "fade" is, on my CS2, it is towards the top under edit.

What is Hayes Island Cafe? It sounds interesting. Do you have any samples?

    Skippy,

Fade is the fourth item down in the edit menu. At least it is on PC CS2.

If memory serves me, Elements does not have the Fade command. It's only in full Photoshop. Depending upon how it's being used there may be another way to achieve the result in Elements. If you can include the step before the Fade and the Fade instructions, we can perhaps suggest a different way to accomplish the same thing in Elements.

For example, Merge to a new layer, sharpen, then fade to luminosity can be simulated in Elements by doing Merge to a new layer, set layer blend mode to luminosity, then sharpen.

Any operation, or set of operations can be "faded" in that way, actually: color moves, blurs, noise addition. Merge to new layer and set opacity to taste.
