Carousel: Full page width? Slow, constant scroll?

Two things I'd like to do with my carousel:

1. Have it go the full width of my homepage, including underneath my left-hand navigation block. If that's not possible, how do I remove the gap between my carousel and the navigation block?

2. Rather than a periodic scroll/snap, I'd rather a constant, smooth, slow scroll.
