Carousel as navigation

Just tried out the Carousel content block.

A couple of things I would like to do with it. Firstly, as a gallery style, or simply being able to click on a photo to open the lightbox - I think I've seen others mention this and that it is planned.

Secondly though - being able to use it to display anything - eg folders, pages etc rather than just photos - so I can use it as a navigation tool. I think this would mean it would be a layout option when you add a Folders content block.

I'd love to see both these things as well if it's possible, particularly the ability to click a picture and have it bring you directly to that gallery or image.
