A Selection of Springtails

Here's a series of springtails from today. Once the rain had stopped, the bits of wood on the ground yielded plenty to find when I turned the wood over.

The first one was unusually green in colour, not sure why, but it is NOT a colour cast! The moist/wet wood also added lots of extra colour (I could desaturate those, but then it wouldn't look like I saw it)...

    Paul,

It makes a change to see some isotomids included. There are some large Isotoma viridis around at the moment. Your first one could be one of them. You also have an Isotomurus.

Thanks Harold. I eventually worked out the first was viridis. Took me ages! The Isotomurus is the one with the stripe?

    Yes, stripe = Isotomurus.
