But it does have a Morel, but even that is false! :)

This was found on a fungus foray in some private woods last Sunday. The weather had been extremely dry for many days and the ground was very dry. However, under deciduas trees, someone found this fist-sized False Morel Gyrometra esculenta.

This species is deadly poisonous when raw (in spite of the "esculenta, which means edible) and it can be dangerous (possibly cumulative) to some people, even when properly cooked.

When I took one shot, some keen "gardener" was clipping the surrounding grass and inserted their scissors into the frame. I took another shot, from a different angle. It was not my intention to make a stereo pair. However, toning down the scissors, with my limited PP software, permits a rather uncomfortable cross-eye stereo.

The final shot looks like the fungus had been oiled . Someone had demonstrated how water could be squeeze out of the sponging fruiting body (in situ). This had partly been readsorbed.
