Anyone played around with this bag

LowePro SlingShot 200 AW (link)

Looks like it might be a pretty good backpack that allows access to the gear while wearing it??

Text form their website:
Perfect for photojournalists, the SlingShot 200 AW uses a unique sling design to go from “carry mode” to “ready mode” in just seconds. Carried comfortably on the back, it easily rotates to the front so you can get to your camera quickly. The SlingShot 200 AW holds an SLR with mid-range zoom lens attached 3–4 extra lenses, cables and accessories and has a full access lid to make loading it a snap. This feature-rich bag also includes a built-in memory card pouch, micro fiber LCD cloth and two generous organizer pockets. It’s certain to surprise even the most demanding photojournalists.

I knew, of course, that trees and plants had roots, stems, bark, branches and foliage that reached up toward the light. But I was coming to realize that the real magician was light itself.

I hardly think the design is unique but the idea works quite well. As long as
you've got the camera set up and ready to go, it'll work. But any digging
round in the bag could be more of a pain.

I've used bags of similar design for computers and such but never cameras.

Thanks, and I agree. The sling design is pretty common. The thing I hadn't seen before is the side-opening camera access. http://www.lowepro.com/images/products/Slingshot_in_use_tif18_N.jpg

Anyway, always looking for a better bag, my nirvana!

Amen to that. It seems there is a perfect bag for every situation and I never have it :D My collection of bags seems to grow every year.
I agree the slingshot 200 does look interesting. My local shop is expecting some in soon (they were expecting them prior xmas but a no show :cry), so I am eagerly awaiting their call.

    My favorite bag!
Yes, I have this slingshot bag and it is my favorite. Lots of room and easy access. You can carry it as a backpack or over your shoulder. Adjustable compartments inside. Can carry a Canon 5d with a 70-200 along with a 580 flash and even tuck a lightsphere in the upper compartment.

    Hey wnl,
Scott (McLeod) and I have spent a lot of time playing around with the Slingshots (100 and 200 flavours) hmming and hawing about buying them. I found that if I tried, I could jam my 350D w/ grip, 50mm, 85mm and kit lens in the main compartment. Scott found he could get similar equipment in (10D instead of 350D, Tammy 28-75 instead of the kitty), but it was seam-bursting-tight.
In comparison, the 200 seems awkwardly huge. With a lot of rearranging, the common result was that we could both get ALL our gear in to it, but with a lot of wasted space; unless you have glass or strobes shaped like small sandwiches or hardboiled eggs (which you might also be carrying) you're going to find a lot of air in the main compartment. As well, there was no "good" way of putting my 350D w/ grip in there.

My conclusion was to wait, and see if I could get something to more precisely fit my needs. My advice is go to in to a b&m (sic) store with your gear and try and fit it in -- if you like it, go for it. If not... join the ranks of the ever-bag-seeking.

    Cheers,
