Posting links on Facebook

Just curious how to change what shows up when I post a link on Facebook. Right now, putting a link to a category of galleries I get an image from one of the galleries that I'd like to change and a SmugMug related comment that starts "Billions of happy photos...". I'd also like to customize that if it's possible.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Dave,

The image posted when you share a link to a folder or gallery should be the feature image you've chosen for that folder or gallery. You can select new feature images from within the folder/gallery settings. The description should pull from the folder or gallery description which is also located within the folder/gallery settings.

If you update those, you may need to debug the URL to help nudge Facebook into updating the information. To do that, you can go here:

If you have more questions about that though, just let us know.
    Thanks,

I've always had a bit of trouble with this. If I'm just linking my website then the format Facebook uses for images seems inconsistent. Sometimes it uses a landscape full width photo and other times it uses a square left aligned photo and I can't seem to find any rhyme or reason as to why. Makes it a bit annoying when trying to make the picture that shows up fit either format nicely!

Thanks! That was very helpful and a good tool to remember. I've update the settings and used the debugger to fetch new scrape info. Of course the old posts still are incorrect. I tested a new post and everything works as expected.

Thanks so much for your help!
