We got 9000 strikes in an hour between 11pm & midnight...they were dropping like rain. It lasted a few hours & kept the entire city awake. I sat & shot it for a while & contemplated a walk to a nearby hill but didnt feel like meeting all those past relatives just now.

The noise was deafening....just boom after boom that shook the walls.

I managed to get heaps of these (i was very unimpressed) but the storm was in an odd position so nothing great...one of the bolts here may have hit the neighbours TV aerial but its just a white flash with no shape. You can see it on the bottom right. Might well be an illusion.

No, you're right about that. Just like fireworks shots, without the context of foreground or a good background being lit up by them (and even better with people in the shots), it's just a bunch of captured funny looking light. Other wise, it's just an exercise in planning and camera control.

Good luck with the second go round. And don't wear metal. :lol4
