I like these much more because they are uncropped set, and thus graininess is reduced.

Carter, this are good! I have taken pictures at lots of airshows in the past and it's not easy!
You did a nice job with this set. thumb.gif

Thank you! It was great fun-- until I realized the backs of my legs did not have sunscreen and were getting *toasted*. Which is also to say, the sun was behind me and there was great lighting on the planes! --Carter

While shooting that day, I was aware that I was not getting as close as I wanted, even with my 225 mm efl. I realized then that these pics were compositions of smoke, clouds and planes. So I started shooting for these compositions. (Then when I got home I started cropping like mad, and those pics are in my other post "In Air.") These pics of "Clouds and Smoke" are essentially SOOC. Thank you for your helpful comments!! --Carter

Nice set, Carter. For these smaller aerobatic aircraft, a wider shot works when they have smoke on and you can get a better sense of some of the maneuvers they are performing. It's going to be tough to get good close up shots with the lens you were using - I have the Canon 100-400, and I'm at the long end for these guys.

Been there, done that, but yes, that means the light was good for a change!
