According to Adobe, the current version of LR does support the 7200 raw format. You may be using an earlier version which does not. Try to update LR and see if you get what you need. If you don't, you have three choices: 1) upgrade LR to the newest version; 2) get the free DNG converter from Adobe and convert your raw files to DNG before processing in LR; or 3) use Nikon supplied software to convert your raw files to TIFF, then import them into LR.

The adobe DNG converter can't process the D7200 files either. I used a text editor to edit the info to D5500 then converted them using the Adobe DNG converter but, that's really not the best idea.

What I plan to do going forward is to use the Nikon software to convert to TIF then take the TIFs into LR. I've also heard very good things about the JPG files the camera produces so will try shooting RAW + JPG which will also give me a chance to play with the little wifi doohickey. :)

LR CC has support for D7200, I can't understand why they won't add it to the older versions LR 3,4,5. :(

Adobe says that DNG Converter 9.0 supports the 7200, both on Mac and Windows. You might have an earlier version, but you can download the current one for free. As for earlier versions of LR (and PS), it has always been Adobe's policy to offer support for new cameras as they appear on the market, but only for the current version of the product. I imagine this was mostly to encourage sales of upgrades.
