Excellent close-ups.

Naming Gladiolus spp is tricky. Depending on whether you consider the colour to be pink or purple, it could be byzantinus.

Thanks Harold- yes you may be right about the species but at least gladiolus is nearer correct than what I used to call them (Spanish irises)

Yes, even in the garden, if I am not concentrating, the two genera sometimes get swapped verbally.
