If you are including the "Contact me" to your navigation menu ... then no code is required.
Customize > Entire Site > click on the menu content block > click on the spanner (Options) > click on the "Links" tab > scroll to the bottom of the links list and click on the "+" sign > Fill in the name ("Contact me") > Link to (chose page or url or contact page) > Done ....etc Save Changes/Publish
My opinion does not necessarily make it true. What you do with my opinion is entirely up to you. www.acecootephotography.com
If you want to add a link to a page of yours you would use the following code (replace $your_url with the address of the page from which you want to use the link):
<a href="http://$yoururl#">Contact me</a>
So you need to add a "#" to the end of your pages URL to get to the contact page.
Something in my brain says there was something that had to be activated in Smugmug for this to work, but I cannot remember what that was... you might find out about it with a search in "New Smugmug Customization" - I am pretty certain I read about it there.

It will only work if there's also a menu content block that links to the "contact form" OR the big SM footer is enable. Also, once you have this set up it will not work for the account owner logged in. Log out and the contact link should open up the form <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/thumb.gif" border="0" alt="" >
Excuse my ignorance, but this is perplexing me. There should obviously be matching content in the "ORGANIZE" section to match the link created, right? I followed the steps above and get a link that says, "Contact Me (unlisted)" in the Menu. That being said, what do I need to create for this link... a gallery or page to go in the corresponding folder? - I'm better with a camera, but I really need to figure this out.

Are you trying to add a link to the contact form in your menu?
There is no content in the organize section for this; it's referencing a form constructed by smugmug.
Where did you place the contact link? I don't see it on your site.
Did you try to use it when you are not logged in to your site?

The "Contact" tab is now in the Home Page queue. I'm just waiting on the verification link from SmugMug... which has been more than 24hrs now.
I linked to the Contact tab to my Motion Gallery where I put my email address... for now.

Thanks again, Denise.
If you haven't received the verification link, check your spam folders. If it's not there I would contact smug support directly.

First you need to add and verify a contact address, then you will be able to reference (use) the contact link. See details at http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/1248294-how-do-i-create-a-contact-page-.

Wow... and I thought I was somewhat "tech savvy" too. It's just not working for me. I'll keep trying.
Denise, thank you very much for your input. I appreciated that.
