The large hoverflies Volucella zonaria have been appearing in the garden recently, mainly feasting on hebe flowers. First 3 shots natural light, last 3 full flash. No focus stacking (they move about too fast)

    Brian,

Catching up with one for a single frame is difficult enough.

I released a large hoverfly from our conservatory yesterday. It was not one of the strikingly-coloured ones.

Thanks for the comments Harold and Ian,

Ian - a butt view is the most common shooting angle- they always land on the underside of the flowers at the tip and then work their way towards the stem - very annoying.
