Large dance fly in the studio

A bit naughty but I managed to trap this fly and then persuade it to pose for some "studio" shots before releasing back outside. I very rarely see the larger Empis species of dance fly.All shots focus stacked using zerene.

    Brian,

    Lovely images. Apart form side-on views, these are very challenging subjects for single frames.

    Those legs qualify as "red", suggesting it is the same one I found, E. opaca.

    It is well worth reading up about them. They have (various) interesting life-styles.

    Really nice composition here, Brian. Once again the eyes are just fantastic. The colors are very pleasing here.
