We have a week of wet weather and moderate to variable strong winds forecast for my week off work... :(

Today, all I got were 2 windswept small cinnabar moth caterpillars, a few days old and less than an inch long yet...

    Paul,

These are probably early second instar. Well captured.

We have made three trips with some of our infested ragwort plants, stripped to the leaf ribs, to a large, roadside patch of the plants. These caterpillars are said to often run out of food and may cannibalise, with most not pupating. We have done our best for our local ones by this transfer.

Thanks Harold. They have stripped the plant, and I will move them to an adjacent one.

    Paul.
