Smugmug and Java

So apparently you need a browser that still supports Java to be able to use at least the backend of smugmug (I haven't tested from frontend). I love Chrome, but now am forced to use IE to login to smugmug. Google is saying that Java is some type of security issue running in the browser. Not sure of validity, etc.

So is smugmug going to go away from users needing Java to run in the browser?
"A photo is like a hamburger. You can get one from McDonalds for $1, one from Chili's for $5, or one from Ruth's Chris for $15. You usually get what you pay for, but don't expect a Ruth's Chris burger at a McDonalds price, if you want that, go cook it yourself." - me

Ehhh, Java?? Are you perhaps confusing Java and Javascript - two different programming languages that has very different properties and requirements. When you say back/frontend what do you mean?

(I should perhaps clarify, I'm using Smugmugs site without any need for Java)
