I'm trying out the password protected download button - using Safari it seems to work fine ...
Using Chrome on an iMac running Yosemite - the password is validated - but instead of the image file I am served a "spacer.gif" file.
1) Open site
2) Browse to gallery
3) Select image
4) click "download" button
5) password prompt - enter password - password is validated and "success" is shown in a splash box
6) file that downloads is called "spacer.gif"

OK ... after a full clearing of all browser data / caches / stored passwords ...
Chrome was able to download the actual images from the password protected gallery.

I have my gallery set to watermark, and allow up to X3 Large. I have Downloads enabled and a Download Password set.
When I test using a private browsing window in Chrome, Firefox, and Safari, I attempt to Download, enter the password, and I get spacer.gif - every time, every browser.
I'm contacting support, and will follow up here if we find a solution.
Is the photo collected from a different gallery? If the original gallery has also a download password set, the download arrow below a collected photo may not work. That's a known issue due to a conflict of security settings. You should be able to work around the issue by removing the download password on the original gallery.
If that's not it, I'm sure the HelpDesk can troubleshoot this for you.

BUT - Turns out it was actually a known bug, and they were already busily working on it! I was told it should be fixed today (although I just tested and it's not fixed just yet).
