Lightroom and Smugmug plugin

Over the years I've used Aperture on Mac and while a great product, Apple has killed it. I've had to move all my photos to a company that seems to actually care about all my hard work and hopefully won't abandon me, but with that comes the learning curve. While setting up Lightroom I found a plugin for Smugmug that has a sync Photos option. My question is, what does it do?
I am missing some photos that are on Smugmug but not currently in my gallery. I was hoping the sync would download the missing photos and link everything up, but it doesn't seem to be doing that. What it is doing is taking up 100% of my computers resources and making the system extremely hot. It has duplicated my galleries but that seems to be about it. Some photos are showing up in those galleries but very few considering the amount of time this thing has been running (2 days).
Does the plugin actually work or am I wasting my time? At the current rate I'll never be able to use Lightroom again because the plugin has everything tied up reading "Processing Photos".
Thanks,
Glenn

Sync Photos - This will scan your SmugMug galleries and attempt to match them to photos that already exist in your Lightroom catalog, then link them. After they're matched, they work just like the other photos you've uploaded through the SmugMug Publish service. Useful if you've uploaded photos via the web uploader or from other computers, and for downloading your client's Event Favorites.
The Lightroom plugin does not download your images - it only matches what you have already in your lightroom library with your SmugMug content.
But it is a great plugin.
