How to add text on homepage only aligned to left?

Hi - I'm hoping this is pretty basic and I'm just dumb. The site is http://www.iamadwin.com.au/
I'm trying to have text on the homepage only as a blurb about me. Right now I have the width as stretchy and the center body width as 600px. When I drag a Text content block on the homepage, I can only align it to the center. When I try turn on the left sidebar, and drag the text in that content block, it still stays roughly in the center.
If I edit the homepage as "Entire Site" I can enable the left sidebar, but then it shows up everywhere. All I'm really trying to do is have some text on the homepage in a left aligned area as a blurb, rather than on every page on the site.
Am I at the limits of smugmug customization?
