We've had an infernal summer in Madrid. It finally cooled down to merely hot, so I hit the street again after weeks of huddling by the air conditioner.

Nice candid shots Richard. I'm a big fan of B&W so you had me at the beginning. The processing on #1 is perfect. " Yes, I do this for a living!"is my caption for that shot.

I've got two questions about #2. Was there something in the background you darkened out on the left or is that just the shadowing at the time of the shot? And who is on the shirt?

The stare that the beggar is giving the dress in #3 is very intense and the contrast between the two fashions is stark.

I feel as if I've met some folks from Madrid this morning! thumb.gif

Glad to see you out and about with the camera once again.

Boy, Richard, I know a thing or two about huddling with an air conditioner. It's been brutal in Florida.

I'm particularly attracted to the third shot here. The contrast of cultures is really strong. I'm not sure if the beggar lady is condemning the other gal for showing too much body or if she is envious that she doesn't have that option herself. Regardless, her concentrated stare makes the shot.

    See you,

    Tom

Love the first. I wish it was also a sound-a-graph.

    Thanks guys, much appreciated.

It was a shop window, in very dark shadow with nothing much of interest. I could have tried to bring out some detail, but the more I pushed the blacks, the more I liked the shot. Here's a 100% crop of the shirt:

Thanks David. Open this in another tab, then go back to the pic--not the real guy, but fairly close: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hq7v5B1rRqk
