A few days ago I had two hawker dragonflies in the garden within the space of 5 minutes. I was concentrating so much on the photography I didn't realise they were different at the time.

I see a lot of these in my area as well. I've tried to capture them but the results never turn out this well. They are ALWAYS in some awkward position. Very nicely done.

Thanks for the comments TLS - yes they can be very awkward where they hang up. I've been on the top of a ladder before now shooting them.

Phil- I'm getting used to them hanging now- it's rather nice when a couple of these hang around in the garden.

I think the Hawkers are resting, whereas the Darters are territorial and looking out for prey.
