Quality When Shared on Facebook

I've always seen how the appearance of my photos change when I see someone sharing them on Facebook.
Does anyone know what's going on here of if there's something I can do about it? A color profile thing? Just low compression settings on Facebook?

Try flipping back and forth between these two and you'll see how muddy the Facebook one gets.

There is a distinct difference in the two shots. The Facebook shot appears to have been compressed compared with the SmugMug shot...hence the loss of the better lighting.
I found a link that might be pertinent. It suggest a PNG format. Not sure this helps you but I thought I would send the link.
Regards! BTW...the shot is very nice.
