Male Scorpion Fly In The Woods

I was with a group of mushroom enthusiasts, on a foray in mixed, mature woodland.
Before we had seen any mushrooms, I looked down and saw this individual on a large, dead leaf on top of the layer on leaf litter on the ground. Each time I tried to get down to its level for a side-on shot if flew away a short distance.
I have seen another male recently, on two occasions, in my garden. unfortunately I was not able to get close enough to frame either.
So I am posting this limited selection of views. The second image has had additional processing to show the wing venation.
EM-1, Kiron 105mm, TTL flash, hand-held.

Thanks, Brian.
Yes, primitive looking yet very evolved.
