I suggest reducing the red saturation and increasing brightness on the birthmark as electronic flash tends to exaggerate the redness, making it more obvious than it might appear in human vision. (I have rosacea in my face and neck, as does one of my children. This effect of the flash is pretty well documented: Baldy often used to quote this reference: http://web.archive.org/web/20070324221213/http://www.cci-icc.gc.ca/publications/newsletters/news34/science_e.aspx)
