How to give some access to whole site and some only to assigned galleries?

Regarding privacy, I would like the following:

1. When I invite someone to view a gallery, they can see only that gallery.

2. I can nominate (or give a password to) a special few (even if they are not themselves smugmuggers) who can see all my galleries, not just those that I have given them the url or password for.

Is this possible?

For example: I want to share a gallery, Work Party, with colleagues, and don't want them to have access to all my galleries; but I do want my Mum (not a smugmugger) to have access to all of them without her having to keep track of the URLs for each gallery.

I guess I could make all my galleries public BUT then impose a site-wide password and give that only to the special few?

But does that mean I would need to give that site-wide password to anyone I wanted to share pics with?

Many thanks in advance

David

To share a gallery with no hint that it's your site turn "hide owner" on for the gallery.

The hide owner setting in the gallery settings > security&sharing section might be the easiest one to set up. If all your galleries are public, people that have the link to your site could view all your public content, while others that you just share a hide owner gallery link with, would be able to just see that gallery.

If you're looking to share your site only with people that you know / have the email for, you can also take a look at our private sharing feature. It allows you to grant different people access to different parts of your site. For example, you could grant specific people access to your entire site, while others just have access to a particular gallery. Each person you invite, the system would send an email with a special link so they could register for a free guest account.
Of course, any person you've granted access to certain parts of your site, you could also take away the rights again so they would no longer be able to view that content.

If you consider using passwords, note that a site-wide password doesn't provide access to galleries that have a password of their own set. Specifically passwording a folder or gallery, means that only people that enter that particular password would be able to access the content.
