Hi,

Tried to start posting here earlier when I took some neat damselfly pics at the end of last month, but I think it all got eaten in the spam filter - let's see if it works again this time. Some from the last few weeks.

A lovely set. That bug with the eggs is very special.

The first two might benefit from some digital fill in the shadows.

The first one drove me quite mad trying to get anything much :D Really just ordinary macro problems - small bug (fairly fresh hatched juvenile of some sapsucking bug, about the size of a medium large aphid - it's about a 50% crop of something that was at ~2.5:1 to begin with), moved a lot, was deep into foliage stuff that obstructed the flash, no natural light of any kind, etc. This is actually the biggest one of these (that is identifiably one of these - don't know if I'm more familiar with the adult bug maybe) I've seen so far.

Second one - that is with fill on the shadows! :D I'd not done them before and it turns out Lycid beetles are that hilariously black hole kind of black and I think they just defeat what I can do with one flash on them. I dunno, I thought the one with the red flower background was probably the best of the lot that worked.

Thanks for the welcome everyone, I've been lurking here for a while since someone mentioned the forum and it's been a great education :D

The additional images show much better shadow detail.
