The Nursery Web Spider Pisaura mirabilis is a permanent resident on plant foliage in my garden. Recently, I have seen tiny replicas of the adults on sunny leaves. Thy are about 1cm along their extended legs.
Yesterday, I found two individuals, one brownish and one more grey. The latter was up on its legs, eating something.
I was using my reversed Schneider FM 40mm* setup, with the x 1.5 TC behind the lens and a FOV of 6mm. It is always tricky to focus this setup and keep it in focus. Yesterday, I was having problem due to my lower back muscles being stiff. (That was from a hands-free balancing session photographing from the top of a ladder).
* The lens was at f16, the TC making that, effectively, f22.
DOF is always an issue and some options are shown here.
There has been some minor cropping of the images for composition purposes.
