Darter Dragon in Autumn Sunlight

The autumn equinox having just passed, the angle of the afternoon sun is getting lower. This female Sympetrum striolatum was resting on various surfaces around our garden, with its wings at a tangent to the sun's rays. This was the least cluttered background, an upturned plastic terracotta plant tub.

I would normally use flash to get sharpness but I wanted to minimise the profile of my setup, so I chose Aperture Priority, f11 at ISO 800, hand-held
