First of all: your site is not pre-fixed with a www but it is "only" aotearoaphoto.smugmug.com unless you get yourself your own domain and connect the two you'll not get the www as it is replaced by your smugmug site name.
Regarding the not being found by google: Did you register your site with google webmaster tools? If not it might take quite some time until google will find your site if they ever do so. (The same counts for Bing by the way, you'd have to set up a bing webmaster account here too.)
If you have done that registration and have added the google-webmaster-tool code to your smugmug account information by entering your google analytics code into the "stat" section of your smugmug account settings already you are a step closer to the goal.
Still it might take some time until google has finished crawling and is displaying your website.
Hope this helps you a little further
Best regards

EDIT: my mistake.

but leave the www off.
It used to be that the url would be redirected to the proper site if the www was in front of the smug url but that is no longer the case.

Yeah, I forgot about that, but I tried it about 4 different versions and all came up empty.

I saw it a few days ago, but trying it again....no go. Takes me to the SM home page too.
