Just because "everyone uses XZY" does not make it the right one for you. Years ago I was a Cannon person, untill I got to use a nikon. This site is Cannon biased others are Nikon, IMHO a poll like this tells you only about this site, not shooters in general.

From the dark side of DGrin.

I dunno what happened to Olympus??headscratch.gif
In my 35mm days they were very popular...OM1....OM4T ect...
(I remember lusting over the OM4T....that was quite a camera back then)
My buddy still has a OM PC even.
Now that Digital seems to be the common medium Olympus hasn't done a very good job keeping their name in the top 3.ne_nau.gif
Even now that they are in the DSLR realm they have a very limited amount of Glass to choose from!
    Wonder why?

Because they started all over. These lenses have a new mount, and are created specifically for digital sensors (meaning the light should fall straight on the sensor). They're a small player now, so they just can't afford the cost of development to bring out a full range of new lenses at once. The Digital Zuikos are expensive, but they are darned good. I don't care that much that their range is limited, they did offer all the lenses I'd ever want (a 28-100, a 100-400, a TC, an excellent macro/portrait lens, and even two more or less exterme wide angles (14-28 or 22-44) (all in 35mm FOV terms)). My collection is complete, exept for the wide angle. I'm still not sure I'd really want to go wider than 28mm often enough to justify the expense of yet another lens.

Anyhow, expect some movement in the Olympus DSLR range soon, with both Olympus and Panasonic offering new bodies for the 4/3 mount. Announcements could be made at PMA starting end of February, although also January 26 is rumored to be Olympus Day. Exciting, huh? ;)

Probably never see Olympus up there with Canon and Nikon.....but ya never know?
BUT..............if Olympus can make a Digital equal to the OM4T it could be REAL interesting!!!

i think canon is in 1st place because of how diverse their range of cameras and lenses are. you can adapt a ton of different lenses from other mounts, INCLUDING Nikon. hey nikon fans, try attaching a canon lens to your camera! pfffttttt haha just teasin'.

Of course, there is a reason why a Canon user would want to use Nikon lenses, but a Nikon user wouldn't have the same wish to use third party lenses..... rolleyes1.gif

All kidding aside, I think we should worry a bit less about the brand of gear we're using, but more about the quality of our images. Any DLSR of any brand will more than likely give most people enough options to go out there and catch some moments.

Well put, brand is a personal pref issue, not something to be snobby over, I had been a Cannon guy for years and still have a cannon film rig, my problem is that I like them all. :D

Have you ever tried this? It works, but goodness is it ugly. Some of those "converters" are frightening.

i've done this with my old zeiss and leica lenses, along with a few olympus OM mount lenses. "...goodness is it ugly???" I don't know what you mean, the results are great for me.

my digital are canon 20d Oly e-20 and sony dsc p-73.

film is canon 7 with some screw mount lens and a f .95 50mm lens a few a1s and a speed graphic.

I like the files from the E-20 better then the 20d but the lens option and the frame buffer makes the poor Oly just sit there most of the time.

Be patient. January 26 is just around the corner. On LetsGoDigital.org, two different images have been posted where they announce that on January 26, Olympus will present something called "The Solution". Knowing Olympus as walking to their own beat, I'm very much looking forward to that. There's no current idea what it will be: an accessory? a P&S? a DSLR? a DSLR with (additional) EVF?
