Who says you need a big sensor? The mirror is dead. Shot with an Olympus E-M10 and kit lens with tripod and circular polarizer, edits in Aperture and AsukaBook Maker 2. Exterior shots to come in a week or two. Eventual goal is a 10x10 photo book for the owner. Now I want an Olympus Pro lens, or at least a fast prime.

Thanks everyone. Yes, I am surprised with this camera what I'm able to pull off. I am itching to get the 45/1.8 lens though now. And maybe one or two floods and stands. Exterior shots, hopefully, within two weeks.

Very well done, Bill. I'm seeing a slightly greenish tone in #1, but it might be my monitor. Really like the deep shadows and the shot of the instrument panel came out well. Will make a nice brochure when it's done. Is the psychedelic coloring of the radio display in #3 on purpose?

Interesting stuff, Bill. I, too, am eager to see how you progress with the Olympus approach. Exterior shots are anticipated.

Please forgive me for being the gearhead that I am; I've never seen a 7.0 liter 427 CI motor referred to as a " small block " like it is in the last shot. Something wrong with that.

Thanks everyone! I think I've since corrected the color cast. And Tom, Chevy calls the LS7 427 engine a small block, and hence so do I.

Well, now that you've done it, I see what you were talking about. Let's just say color vision is not my strong point. I'll try a white balance adjustment using the rim itself to sample on and see what happens. Is that what you did? Thanks!

Looking like 2-3 weeks before I get exterior shots posted. Work schedules are not aligning at the moment. But I need the shots done by end of month so that I can finalize the album design. I have discount codes for Asuka Book that I'm using for this so I do have a bit of a timeline to shoot for.

I dealt specifically with the color cast on the wheel. I de-saturated both green and yellow channels. White balance is only the start, and with funky and / or mixed lighting is of limited value.

Thanks Sam! I'll fire up Affinity Photo tonight and replicate myself. To make sure I know what to do, desaturate the green channel in RGB mode. Switch to CYMK mode, desaturate yellow channel. Then back to RGB.

Aha! Discovered Aperture will let me desaturate specific color channels easily. Woo hoo! Too bad the tool is going away.

I played with Affinity Photo beta a little and it looked pretty good.

Sam, did you select out the red on the wheel before doing the de-saturation on the green and yellow channels or increase saturation as a final step? The red still looks pretty rich in the final version.

I like it so far as well. Its mostly similar to Photoshop, but just different enough, to make it sometimes difficult to use. Once you learn the quirks, though, its pretty good. They still have some work to do, like the ability to read layered TIFF files. But I use this type of tool so seldom that Creative Cloud is not worth the expense to me.

No, I didn't need to select or mask anything. De saturated the green, still had some color cast. Desaturate the yellow, the color cast was gone. Nice black wheel. Checked the red brake caliper. Looked good. A little sharpen, vibrance, I'm done. Easy peasy.

If you're up to it (now that you're editing) remove the spots on the spoke and maybe the line on the disc. I know it's nitpick thing, but that's just the commercial in me

When you do the outside shots, be aware the carbon fiber will capture reflections like glass.

Agreed about the furthe edits. thanks! Probably 2 weeks out on the exterior shots due to work schedule conflicts between Paul and I. And I've got a circular polarizer and tripod to help.

The Olympus line is really great... it is what I have been using for the last 10 years... all of my shots are with an old Oly E-3 that is on it's last legs... their quality lenses are awesome. If life quits kicking me in the balls I plan to upgrade to the E-M 5ii with the Pro 12-40/2.8, 40-150/2.8 and 300/4 with maybe the 17/2.8

Nice work, great shots, really shows what can be done with a decent camera and great skills.
