These (1cm) bugs are supposed to live in sandy coastal habitats. This population was 50 miles inland, on thistles in a not-remotely sandy but waterside location. They walk around quite rapidly on the plants and are tricky to frame.

They are Rhopalidae. Apparently, they have reached "as far north as Yorkshire".
