The right time, the right place, the right camera, the right processing equal a great image.

Thank you Sam,, yep everything was optimal during this shoot, quite a few other photogs were there and I got lucky on this particular tree by having complete access thumb.gif I actually went there on the previous day at about 3:00 in the afternoon and the place was CRAWLING with tourists, literally kids crawling all over these trees, this being one of them, I like that the surf came in during the night and wiped out any signs of footprints leaving a pristine beach with no signs of humans thumb.gifthumb

Jim, what processing did you use if any.

Thank you everyone !! very much appreciated !! thumb.gif

Charles,, I always start with my RAW files in Lightroom, some basic tweaking there then take to Photoshop, I went minimal on the processing for this image, some noise reduction to start and I use Topaz Denoise,, then I often use Luminosity masks from Tony Kuyper and I did do some luminosity painting on the tree itself just to add some light, I often use Topaz lab software too, I used just a touch of Clarity, which I usually paint in on a mask where I want and I also use Topaz Detail which brought out the textures in the sand and added detail in the shadows of the tree, the majority of processing was achieved in LR which again was fairly minimal thumb.gif

Great shot, Jim. Those barrier islands along that stretch are some of my favorite hunting grounds. You've done yourself proud in capturing a scene that speaks to the flavor of the place.

BTW...I hear you about the hoards of people that can complicate shooting there. If you haven't done it, you should take the boat over to Cunberland Island. There's far fewer people to spoil a real wealth of shooting opportunities. You catch a boat out of St. Marys, Ga. for the ride over to Cumberland. A great way to spend the day.

I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.

Thanks Tom, yes those barrier Islands are something, constantly changing and evolving, sand removed from one area and deposited in another,, a special location for sure thumb.gif Thanks again
