had enough of smugmug
being forced to accept a buggy, ugly and unfinished new smugmug - which not one client or customer i've showed it to likes
compounded by having to click through 10 different screen to change settings - where one screen did it all before
the idiotic location of the new smug photo info in the centre of the image - completely blocking the image... the list of silly things is too long to repeat here
but the final straw is that smugmug keep deleting stats and image views. one of the most important things in the digital age is know what images customers and site visitors are looking at. pulled up the stats in a meeting to show a client that many people had looked at the photos from the last job and instead of hundreds of thousands who i knew had - because i saw it in the stats a few months previously - there was only a couple of thousand. Needless to say the customer wasnt impressed and it cost me a job and a nice fee.
so my question since when i joined smugmug werent offering custom domains - how do i keep all the links which customers have bookmarked over the last decade+ and google tracks and thousands of galleries and hundreds of thousands of photos to somewhere different
smugmug was always the least worst option - but now it has completely lost the plot

Have you tried speaking to the Smugmug Help Desk.
I'm not seeing any of your issues on my website.
Change is often difficult. Best wishes in whatever you decide to do
PS I don't have any connection to Smugmug other than being a customer like you.

As for using smugmug stats in an important meeting with clients - had you looked at smugmug stats beforehand? If you had you would surely have been aware of the limitations and might have been a little better prepared. Have you not heard of Statcounter? Google Analytics?
Good luck in finding an alternative!
We are definitely happy to help address any concerns you have with customizing your site. Please email us at help@smugmug.com so we can give you more personalized support.
As for the stats, no we don't keep them forever. If you want longer term stats, we definitely recommend using Statcounter or Google Analytics. You can read more about the SmugMug stats here: http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/93330
