Think interested in modified kit lens, but where to find?

Whatever happened to all the "modified" Canon 18-55 kit lenses that I used to see for sale? Back before I picked up a used D60 I kept seeing these for sale both here and on FM.

Just as I suspected, so far, there is just one thing (a display case at my church that I can't zoom with my feet to take pictures of) that I really need the wider lens for. These modified kit lenses seemed just the thing for a very constrained budget when you don't have very frequent use for the wide end of that range.

Help!
Jane

    Great links.

Note that I Just paid 50$US shipped for one though, so the guy who's selling one for 75$ could probably be talked down.

I think you are having so many problems finding one, because everyone sold them at the same time. I ended up trading mine, as the boards were flooded with these lenses.

Who did the modification for you?

Scott, who did the modification for you? I notice that you have a 10D that cannot take the "s" lens without it. The one in the link above appears to not yet be modified for the older cameras.

There is a book called "Digital Camera Hacks" or something very near.
It details how to make the changes yourself.

A google search would likely turn up the correct title.

    Oh, sorry.

My lens was modified by the person who the prev. owner bought it from.
