Custom Banner/Header on Homepage only

Hello,
I have searched the threads and if this has been asked and answered, please forgive me.
My question is this. I have a custom banner/header added as a single photo which displays across on my entire site. Is there a way to set it to only display on my homepage allowing me to add a simple name only header to the top of all other pages?
I have tried removing from "entire site" and then adding a single photo back to homepage only, but am not able or allowed to move it above my navigation bar where I want it.
