memory card!

hello:i have a nikon coolpix p-90.with 2 of my memory cards i get an error message:"memory card is write protected"i dont know how they got that way or what to do about it.the camera will not let me format the card....any ideas?thanks

    Some SD cards have write protection switches on the left edge. Change its position if you have one.

    This happens to me all the time after slipping the card into the computer SD slot and out again!
