Cabbage Moth Mamestra brassicae Caterpillar

This was on an outdoor pot plant, possibly looking for a hibernation site.

Some pink colour appears on a triangular area of the face. This was picked up when the larva rolled up during the session.

The close-ups were with my reversed Schneider HM 40 at f16, using twin flash.



The crosseye stereo is not as good as I would like but it may be of interest

    The main problem is that the width across the face uses all the available DOF at f16.

    I think the depth is OK but the DOF is not quite enough. The two images were from a slightly different downward angle, which is not helpful in viewing the pair.
