This mushroom is white, with a very wet, slippery surface to its cap. The species grows on dead wood in woodlands. This individual was a very early stage, with the cap closed.

Thanks, Brian.
The expanded cup has the same appearance. Maybe it holds the secret of eternal youth? The species is edible, after washing off the gluten. Presumably, it is not an ideal constituent in a gluten-free diet.
