Having Menu ( Nav ) Bar Show only Sub-folders, NOT galleries

As my title says--- When setting up my navigation & links in my Menu bar, the option to "Show all Sub-Folders" or something like that made my menu bar dropdowns show every single gallery etc in that folder or sub-folder. So I un-checked all those boxes except for a couple menu items that only have 2 or 3 sub-folders under them. How can I get the menu bar to only show the folders and/or sub-folders, and not all the galleries? And is there a way to simply choose exactly what I want each dropdown to show or not show?

Look at this documentation for advise: http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/1222523

You can then add one folder and add some of its galleries manually...

    Good luck

One option... I did this variation because inside a main folder I have:
    - one subfolder with only one gallery in it right now, so I want this gallery to be in the dropdown list on the navbar, not the subfolder it's in (for now)
    - several galleries

To achieve this, my main folder link in the navbar has to start off with sublinks turned OFF:

    1. Drag in the main folder as a link, turning OFF the "open sublinks". [This makes this link clickable on the navbar, if someone really wants to view material that way, but no sublinks populate automatically.]

    2. Then dragged in (a) the relevant galleries from the main folder, manually adding their links, and (b) the single gallery from the subfolder. I did not include the subfolder itself as a link.

    3. Arranged all the galleries in the order I want the viewer to see the list.

Another tip: If you leave the title of a link blank when you create it in the navbar, the current title of the gallery itself will auto-populate in the navbar, when you publish. Or you can type in the title exactly, or modify it, or even change it to something completely different. If you leave the title fields blank, it makes it a bit harder to know what you've done when looking at the main list of links in the navbar content block. If you decide to type in titles, then if you make changes to the gallery settings/titles later, they won't auto-fix in the navbar.

    Anna Lisa:

    - Drag in the main folder link that you want to show in the Navbar
    - Turn off open sublinks
    - Make new links to each folder you want to populate under the main folder links. Turn on or off open sublinks as you want.
    - Drag these folder links to the right and under the main folder link, thus creating the "sub links" that will show in the navbar.

Thanks to both of you, Lille & ChancyRat-- You've cleared up almost all of my confusion about the Nav bar & all. clap.gifSome of it is info I used to comprehend, from customizing my old Smug. It's a shame how fast I forget the details!! I'll have to get to work fixing it up the way I want. Also, ChancyRat-- yes, your thoughts about what to do with one single sub-folder or one single gallery in a folder are very helpful & timely. I have that situation in a few places, & no longer have JFriend's customization for auto-opening a single gallery from its sub-folder or top folder.

Now if I can just get all this info sorted in my head alongside new concerns about possibly breaking old gallery links, depending whether I change their category (folder) names etc. etc... In other words, I've thought of meshing "Family" & "Friends" into one top category (folder) called "People", & if so, it would be best if the URL & my breadcrumb also reflect this new category, as well as the Nav bar top item also being called "People". However, it sounds like now that would break links that I've sent to people, posted on FaceBook, etc... I think... due to SmugMug now discontinuing perma-links? Idk... must go back & read some other threads from a week or 2 ago...
