Designer spider ?

I spotted a running crab spider sitting on a vertical strut on my greenhouse. When I got near for a shot, it ran around to the underneath, between the strut and the glass. Although it made for a very awkward shot I'm glad it did because the shot below shows what I found.
I'm pretty certain the crab spider was not responsible for the amazing web structures but I wonder what was?

Almost makes me think of those webs parasitising wasps make spiders build to protect the wasp in the centre? Very cool find in any case whatever it is

The attachment structure does seem similar to that of other crab spiders, as photographed by Philip Davison here:

Great find and info info Ziggy - thanks- certainly a lot of similarities in the web structure. I will investigate further. I like the idea of a spider trying to bend aluminium struts
