Watermark selection not possible due to truncated Watermark titles

In Gallery Settings (in Both "Customize" as well as within the "Organize" area), several of my watermark titles are needlessly truncated & therefore I can't select the one I want since some of them begin with the same word or words. The truncation makes no sense, either, since there's plenty of empty space left (even after the ellipses that are put in place of the truncated letters!) to simply let the title remain intact. These are not lengthy titles by any means. I hope this will get fixed soon; I believe it's been reported in the past but couldn't find the post. Any time a website truncates words, there should be a good reason for doing so. There are many other examples around New SmugMug where wording is truncated for no apparent reason-- such as where space is plentiful.

Are you referring to the "pick" watermark in gallery settings?

In manage watermarks the whole WM name shows. You can edit to shorten names. Or
You can edit each name to add a number in front of each name then have a list showing these.

Yes, I'm talking about in Gallery Settings > Photo Protection > Select Watermark -- There's plenty of space to show the whole name of each of my watermarks, but just like in a lot of other areas in New SmugMug, letters are inexplicably replaced with the dreaded ellipse & then blank space. The space given for selecting watermarks in "Gallery Settings" should be at least as long as the space given when naming a watermark in the first place. No user expects or wants to re-name their watermarks if their original title conformed correctly to the naming conventions (including length) given initially. I certainly do not want to rename mine, as they tell me exactly what I need to know. I don't want to number them either, as a number won't tell me anything.

Yes, I could re-name my watermarks as a stop-gap measure, but I shouldn't need to. SmugMug should fix this for everyone, and in every other place the same problem (truncation & ellipses) occurs on the site. We all know this has been a web design fad, but we're all over the thrill of it now. I've never yet heard a user say, "Yes, please replace the words I carefully selected for view with an ellipse & blank space, because I like that better, and because it's more functional and/or more aesthetic". No. It's just an annoying design flaw everywhere it occurs & needs to go away. When it keeps you from using a tool, then it becomes more than a flaw & is a bug.

When I Looked at your watermarks, it looks like we're out of room in the Gallery Settings pane.

    winsome_works_watermark-L.png

You'll see that on the left, it's basically butting up against "Select Watermark" and on the right, it's hitting the margin required for the settings to display properly.

I'd recommend renaming them to remove or at least shorten the "WinsomeWorks_" tag in front of them, as it's ends up just filling characters without providing a huge benefit. I could certainly understand why you'd want the tag there if you had some ambiguous ones (like maybe some say "Winsome" while others say "WinsomeWorks") but since the real key is just "Bottom Left", "Bottom Right", etc, it probably makes most sense to just rename them.

OK, but that's not the pane where the whole name needs to be displayed. I don't mind as much if the whole name isn't displayed right there, although that would be handy too (& it sure looks like they could just move the dropdown arrow to the right, or simply give the whole Settings box smaller side margins, since those margins don't help anyone.) But the pane where there is appears to be space, & where it most needs to be displayed, is the actual pane that shows up when you hit that actual dropdown, & are selecting the watermark. It's in the actual selection process (which in most user cases is only being done once anyway) where we need to see it.

Gosh, and WOW! Revelation here: Speaking of dropdowns... I don't have any dropdown arrows anywhere in that whole Gallery Settings box! I hardly have dropdown arrows anywhere on my site when I'm given an option to choose-- in fact, I've found it to be very curious, & often forgotten that I could make a choice because it's often not apparent that there is one! For me, the selected option is there, & very lighly highlighted (not as noticeable as in your screenshot) but to know that there are other options, I have to click on the selected one (in this case, WinsomeWorks_Bott ) For the first few days I tried to use the New SmugMug, I was thoroughly confused because I didn't realize there were all these hidden options. I'm completely missing dropdowns throughout most of the Customizer panels & many Organizer dialog panels where editing is done.

So... I'm presently on the latest FF, & I think Windows 7. Don't know if it's the browser or what. Well, that at least identifies another thing I was seeing as a bug! I just figured this was another fad (assumed options, not bothering with dropdown arrows) & that I was just behind the times, expecting a nice little dropdown arrow! Incidentally, I do see side arrows sorta like this: > in some of the other panels. (Such as in "Shopping > Personal Delivery > Setup" there's a gray side-arrow > to the right of "Set-up", & I see that kind of arrow. But not dropdown arrows.)

I'd suggest shortening "WinsomeWorks_" to "WW_

I probably will for now, Al, but that doesn't solve this thing for anyone else. It's not like my titles are that long. (in other words, any title that's short enough to be allowed when originally setting it, should show up in the selection areas) But anyway, did you see my notes about the other thing -- no dropdown arrows in most of my settings (Customizer or Organizer dialog boxes) all over my site? You're usually on FF too, right? Wondering if you see dropdown arrows. Look at Aaron's screenshot. You see the little dropdown arrows... I have none of them showing!

There's no way for that selection to show unless I had choose it. The only logical way was to
click to a dropdown. Seems intuitive?

Well, I'm talking about not just here, but all over my SmugMug, in almost all the tools or settings areas, even where there's a default selection (which there usually is) , & no, there were lots of places when I was initially setting up stuff especially that it wasn't intuitive at all... or if it was, I wouldn't have been so confused. I saw some of these as statements, not questions asking "what do you want to choose?" (Like when setting links for my Menu Bar-- wow, that was really odd-- I simply didn't know that there were all these options of where to get the link, etc. etc. Didn't find them til days later) Like I said, my highlighting is much less noticeable than in Aaron's screenshot, so it doesn't look like anything to be clicked on. If lots of other people aren't seeing dropdowns, I mean, this may explain at least some of the whole "New SmugMug is so intuitive" argument-- I mean, I'm not all that savvy but I know lots of people are even less so! It's just not logical to not have them & then when you find the options, you're asking yourself, "Gee, I wonder why they didn't put a dropdown arrow there like everyone else does?" as I did. But I take it from your comment that you're not seeing arrows either?
