river bend farm

Got a gorgeous day to go hang out with a long time and very good friend, Chris, who I might add has been scratching his head all these years wondering how he, a lover of the F-mount, got me into photography in the first place and I ended up shooting Canon until this week. Swapping lenses as well as stories and ribbing was a new treat for both of us.
:D

We knew it was going to be a good day when we loaded up the car and made ready to leave, only to look up and see Chris' friend, the red-tail, posing for us. This is a crop from a 300mm+2xTC basically hand held in near freezing weather with no jacket on. Not bad.

River Bend Farm is located in the Blackstone River Valley. The river makes all sorts of crazy loops at this spot and there are trails all over. Chris says there's lots of critters usually hanging out here...

another tree,

anyone home?

finally, a critter!! Oh wait, that's just Chris :wxwax

There was such a lack of critters, in fact, that the river was pretty much a mirror.

and my favorite of the day:

Hope you enjoyed our hike. I sure did! :D

(did I mention I think Chris' 10.5mm Nikkor fisheye is really neat?)

great hike Doc thumb.gif I didn't even have to clean my boots when I finished. Your favourite is mine too! What a great shot!!! I'd love to go canoeing for a couple of days down that river; It looks awesome, scenic, peacefull and inviting (except for the cold) all in one. :):

    Why thank you.

In the summer, there is in fact quite a bit of canoeing on this river. It snakes quite a distance, with many nice spots to rest, so it attracts many water tourists and families.

Hey, a photo post? With photos? I think this change from Canon has been a good thing for you! :D

That last shot of the river is really nice. And the fisheye of you made me laugh - it looks like your shadow is beating up Chris's shadow! rolleyes1.gif

I know, its amazing! I just spent a couple hours outside this morning shooting as well - and at the moment I only have a 50mm lens to boot!

I know, the shadows are great! I wanted to crop it, but then realized how hilarious the shadows were. Chris practically did beat me up! You forget how close you can get to someone with a fisheye, he was about 8 inches away from me in that shot. What a great piece of glass.

thanks for the continued comments. nod.gif
